Inside The Child Mind Institute 2024 Child Advocacy Award Dinner

Nearly $7M raised in support of families dealing with mental health challenges.

On November 20th, 2024, The Child Mind Institute held its annual Child Advocacy Awards Dinner at Cipriani 42nd Street in NYC.

The Child Mind Institute is the leading non-profit organization for children’s mental health. Its mission is to support families facing mental health challenges with resources clinical care, scientific research, and public education.

The dinner was hosted by actress and comedian Ali Wentworth, who strongly advocates for children’s mental health.

the benefit chairs included Andreas C. Dracopoulos, Elizabeth and Michael Fascitelli, Christine and Richard Mack, Brooke Garber Neidich and Daniel Neidich, Zibby and Kyle Owens, Abigail Pogrebin and David Shapiro, Linnea and George Roberts and Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).

Founder of Fiore Ventures and Owner of the Denver Broncos, Carrie Walton Penner, was presented with the 2024 Advocacy Award.

“The mental health gap facing young people is an enormous, complicated challenge that leaves too many without access to care,” she said upon receiving this honor. “Child Mind Institute is revolutionizing the field by bringing together care, education, and science to help young people reach their full potential.”

Founding President and Medical Director of the Child Mind Institute, Harold S. Koplewicz, MD, left attendees with powerful closing remarks.

There are very few bipartisan issues in our nation, but we are all here because we agree on one thing: there is a youth mental health crisis,” Koplewicz said. “This crisis affects everyone. Mental health disorders remain the most common illnesses of childhood and adolescence. The Child Mind Institute is committed to meeting this challenge with the best in care, education, and science.”

The event ended up raising $6.9M in support of The Child Mind Institute and its mission to support families with mental health challenges.
