No one enjoys an evening on the town more than me, but let’s be real—if I’m stepping out, I’m stepping out to the max! And certain steps must be taken to create a look that turns heads and tells a story. Here are a few things I do to prepare so I look my best.

No Rushing Allowed
I always give myself a full hour to get ready—minimum. One of the things I dislike most in life is rushing. I never want to feel hurried when I’m getting dressed or doing my hair and makeup because it’s my special time for myself. Getting ready sets the tone for the entire night.

Shower Before, Not After
If I’m going out, I like to take a shower a couple of hours beforehand. I want to feel fresh, relaxed, and luxurious long before I step out. I don’t want to come home late at night and feel like I still have to shower.

Outfit First, Always
You know how people stand in front of the refrigerator wondering what to eat? I don’t want to do that with my closet. I like the outfit—shoes, accessories, jewelry—laid out ahead of time. No guesswork, just pure glamour.

Let the Hair Bake
Before I start my makeup, I always tease my hair and give it a good spray so it can “bake” while I do the rest of my prep. It gives it that hold and volume I love. Then, I move on to makeup. Once I’m done, I gently shape my hair—just a little final touch here and there.

Mirror Check, Please
I step back, look in the mirror, and do a final inspection. I like to see the full picture (front and back) before I leave the house. Everything has to work together—head to toe.

The Purse Problem
One of my biggest problems in life? Changing my bag. I always double-check that I have my keys, phone, and my mini makeup bag. (I never use the makeup when I’m out, but it gives me peace of mind knowing that it’s there!)

My Golden Rule: No Calls
Lastly, I do not answer the phone while I’m getting ready. People will call and say, “I’ll be quick,” and 20 minutes later they’re still talking. My trick? I don’t answer at all. My time and routine are precious—and so are yours!
