Memorial Day has long marked the unofficial start of summer—when the pace shifts, dining moves alfresco and getting dressed begins to feel a little more fun. Whether you’re hitting the sand for a sunny afternoon at the beach or drinking cocktails poolside, the best weekends tend to feel effortless—and the same should be true for your weekend beauty strategy. Consider this the official minimalist’s guide to not overdoing it this Memorial Day weekend.

The low-maintenance girlies will surely appreciate a pared-down approach to skin prep. A few days out, start with exfoliation. Slough off any lingering winter skin with the help of a dry brush, like La Prairie’s new impeccably chic marble exfoliating option, and follow up with the brand’s luxurious Cashmere Body Cream for hydrated limbs that will look as good as they’ll feel. Glow Recipe’s LHA toner pads used in advance will smooth and reset the skin without stripping or overdrying. Of course, no summer weekend is complete without a sun-free tan. Caudalie’s buildable (and beginner-friendly!) self-tan hydrating face drops mix seamlessly into any serum or moisturizer for a flawless and streak-free glow.

A pre-weekend Glamsquad blow-dry appointment is always a good idea. Those keeping things simple should coat strands in Chris McMillan’s lightweight Styling Balm to ensure frizz-free, long-lasting lengths that will survive through the trip home. Just don’t forget the dry shampoo; Messy’s oil-absorbing travel-size will refresh roots without weighing down hair.

In terms of packing, look for products that do more. YSE Beauty’s Xtreme Glow Dewy Peptide Plumping Serum delivers a boost of peptides and hydration while leaving a dewy finish—great with or without makeup—in its wake. For a quick flush, grab Prada Beauty’s cream-to-powder blush in Waterlily or Cherry for rosy cheeks (and lips!) that last up to 12 hours; this is ideal for warm humid days that turn into flirty summer nights. In lieu of fragrance, Chanel Beauty’s Coco Madmoiselle Pearly Body Oil adds a subtle sheen to the décolletage, while delivering soft notes of jasmine and rose. And for an easy finish, toss in one of the brand’s new limited-edition lip serums, which add just enough polish without feeling like an extra step. After all, summer beauty works best when it’s kept simple—and a little undone.

And why not toss it all in Abbode’s California Essential Croc Pouch? This is the perfect carry-all for organizing your must-haves at home or on the go!
