Book adaptations are nothing new for Hollywood, however, with the rise of BookTok, it seems that our favorite reads are being turned into big and small screen productions more frequently.
There have been a ton of films and TV based on books that are confirmed to release or are starting production in 2025.
Here are adaptations some we can’t wait to see!
The Housemaid
The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden is a BookTok sensation and now it’s hitting the big screen. Production for this film has already begun and the cast is unmatched. Amanda Seyfried, Sydney Sweeney, Brandon Skelnar, and Michele Morrone are starring in this psychological thriller.
Verity
Colleen Hoover’s Verity will also be getting a film adaptation. It has also been confirmed that another novel of Hoover’s—Reminders of Him—will be turned into a film following the recent release of It Ends With Us back in 2024. However, fans are particularly excited for Verity as the cast was recently confirmed. Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett will be bringing this eerie romance to life.
The Off Campus Series
Arguably one of the most popular series on BookTok, the Off Campus books by Elle Kennedy are being adapted into a Prime Video TV series. The novels follow a college hockey team and their romantic relationships. Though a cast and release date is yet to be confirmed, fans are eager to see this beloved series hit their TV screens.
People We Meet on Vacation
Who doesn’t love an Emily Henry book? Fans of the author are in luck because her popular novel People We Meet on Vacation is being adapted into a movie. Production for this film is already underway, and many anticipate it will be released on Netflix in 2025. The cast includes Tom Blyth, Emily Bader, Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, Lucien Laviscount, and Lukas Gage.
Fourth Wing
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros gained a ton of popularity on TikTok in 2024, quickly becoming a fan-favorite. Following its April release, Amazon MGM gained the rights to this film along with Outlier Society, Michael B. Jordan’s production company. Though the cast has not yet been announced, the showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett was confirmed.
