FOX News senior medical analyst and bestselling author Dr. Marc Siegel has built his career at the intersection of science, storytelling, and the human spirit. Now, with his new book The Miracles Among Us (FOX News Books), which has recently been announced as #1 on the New York Times Bestseller List, he steps beyond the data points and diagnoses to illuminate something far less measurable—moments of extraordinary hope.

Drawing on decades in medicine, Dr. Siegel shares stories of recoveries that defy logic, transformations sparked by faith, and the surprising ways modern technology and ancient intuition converge. In these pages, he argues that while science advances, the heart of medicine remains deeply human. Every miracle, he says, sits at the crossroads of knowledge, instinct, and something greater than ourselves.

Below, Dr. Siegel speaks with Spotlight about the inspirations behind the book, the patient stories that changed him, and what he hopes readers will carry forward from these remarkable accounts.

Q&A WITH DR. MARC SIEGEL

Author of The Miracles Among Us

SPOTLIGHT: What inspired you to center this book on “miracles” and the extraordinary moments you’ve witnessed throughout your medical career?
Dr. Siegel: My deep instinct, born of studying the wonders of the human body and spirit, to go the extra mile to save a patient and ease their suffering. The more technology has advanced, the more I see physician hands as the hands of God. True healing always involves both the mind and the body, and the recognition that there are no such things as coincidences. One must never give up on a patient without going the extra mile.

SPOTLIGHT: Was there a particular patient story in The Miracles Among Us that shifted your perspective on the limits of science and healing?
Dr. Siegel: The story of Breakthrough, where a magical voice from the shore guides the rescuers to save John Smith from under the ice. Forty-five to fifty-five minutes without a pulse until his mother reaches the hospital and begins to pray directly to God. I spoke to John Smith, the mother, all the doctors involved, and the emergency responders—and all had never seen anything like this before or since. It simply wasn’t possible without God’s direct intervention.

SPOTLIGHT: You’re known for breaking down complex medical issues for a national audience. How did that experience influence your storytelling approach in this book?
Dr. Siegel: This enabled me to weave in these great stories while at the same time describing the medicine and keeping it fresh and accurate. I was able to come to the conclusion (as will the reader, hopefully) that the intricacies of the medicine are a crucial part of each miracle.

SPOTLIGHT: In an era dominated by data and technology, what do these miracle stories reveal about the human side of medicine that often gets overlooked?
Dr. Siegel: It is the most important side. Medicine is still an art. And the more we advance, the more tools we have, the more important the human element becomes. After all, our goal is one-on-one—to preserve and save a life.

SPOTLIGHT: What do you hope readers—especially those navigating their own health challenges—will take away from these stories?
Dr. Siegel: Hope and inspiration. Healing prayers. Pray directly to God. Look for the twists and turns that may bring you to an unexpected cure. Remember, God gives you the miracles he wants you to have. Be a person who is kind and takes care of others, and hope that this is returned to you as your cup is refilled.
