Up and coming Pop artist Audriix has been making a name for herself in the music industry. She topped the charts this past year for her hit single “I Do.”
The all-encompassing musician is back with a new single titled “Not Alone (Acoustic)” to kick off 2025. She released the pop version of this tune during the fall, but this new version produced by Chris Sligh is bound to make a splash.
Hear all about the artist and how she’s making her break into the industry in the exclusive Q&A session below.
When did you start making music? What sparked your interest?
There’s never been a time when I wasn’t interested in making music. When I was two years old and first heard Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, I begged my mom to let me take violin lessons. After badgering her for a year, she finally said yes.
I then started singing at age four, playing piano at five, songwriting at six, and later added guitar and drums. My interest in pop music specifically started when I was six and became obsessed with the Backstreet Boys. My first “band” was called the “Backstreet Girls.”
How were you able to turn your passion into a career?
Knowing how challenging and competitive a music career would be, I realized I needed to acquire other skills beyond just music. As a Silicon Valley native, I took the non-traditional path of getting three degrees from Stanford (BS and MS Computer Science and MBA) because I wanted to take an entrepreneurial approach to my career. the business side of music is just as important as the creative side!
I started releasing my first batch of material while at Stanford and then worked hard to continue writing, releasing, and performing to keep advancing my career. Music’s a very difficult industry and there’s always luck involved, but I’ve tried to acquire as many skills as I can to propel myself forward.
How did it feel when your single broke into the top 40 on the radio charts?
It was surreal to watch the growth of my song I Do this past year! It was the first song I wrote for my album Twisted Fairytales and is my favorite one I’ve ever written. I truly believed in the song, so it was beyond exciting to see that others had such a positive response as well. I Do is the first song I’ve taken to pop radio, so for it to break top 40 on the radio charts was crazy!
Tell us about your new single“Not Alone (Acoustic).”
I released the pop version of Not Alone in November 2023 with a feeling of wistfulness and hopefulness around the holiday season. Before I released the pop version, the original demo of the song was just vocals and an acoustic guitar in a swing rhythm. I always liked the vibe of that demo, and I’ve been inspired by acoustic music after recording in Nashville recently.
I thought it would be fun to release an acoustic version of Not Alone for the new year! Chris Sligh, who has written with artists like Nate Smith and Rascal Flatts, produced the song and kept that same acoustic guitar swing feel as the demo.
Though the holiday season is considered a joyous time, that notion is not the case for everyone. Why did you choose to release such a profound song during this time?
The holidays are a bittersweet time for me. On the one hand, they represent togetherness and a fresh start for the new year. However, they also serve as a painful reminder of people who are no longer around. Personally, I’ve had some really difficult events happen over the holidays, which always stir up emotions this time of year.
I think many people experience a similar mix of emotions during the holidays. Since many holiday songs tend to focus on the most wonderful time of the year, I felt like people could relate to the idea that it’s more complex than that. I wanted to release a song that conveyed that range of emotions.
What are some of your goals for 2025?
My primary goals for 2025 are to break out as a pop artist and climb the radio charts, coupled with touring, sync opportunities, aligning with brands, and, of course, continuing to release new music. I have another singer-songwriter acoustic track called “if you come back” coming on January 10, followed by my next upbeat pop single in February. I have a bunch more songs ready to go and am continuing to write. I’m also excited to be performing at the EDM Awards in Miami in March 2025, too.
