Everyone knows September is the best month of the year. Not only is it my birthday month, but the weather is truly unmatched. Summer may have flown by, but that doesn’t mean we’re done making the most of it—or done dating. As we settle back into the rhythm of New York City, I’m excited to share my favorite date ideas that let you soak up the last of the warm weather while making the most of everything the city has to offer.

Catch a tennis match at the US Open. How lucky are we that the best tennis players in the world are planning tennis 30ish minutes from the city? Grab a honey deuce and your best tennis whites and head over to watch the US Open for a day trip or an evening date. Don’t forget to get a chicken nugget with some caviar on top.

Take a Brooklyn Bridge stroll. In my opinion, there’s nothing sexier than a walking date. Especially if you make fun and spontaneous stops along the way. Plus, you usually save a lot of money. Take advantage of the beautiful nights that we get this month and walk the bridge with your date while looking at our amazing skyline. If you want to stay in Manhattan, you could also walk the West Side Highway at golden hour, then grab drinks at a waterfront bar.

Watch a movie under the stars. NYC Parks host tons of free screenings in parks across all five boroughs through the summer and into early fall. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and arrive before sunset for the best spot. Don’t forget your popcorn and Buncha Crunch to optimize the experience. You can find free screenings at Riverside Park, Bryant Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Enjoy dinner and ice cream. Sometimes the best dates are the simplest. Start with dinner at a new restaurant you’ve been meaning to try, then keep the night going with a walk to your favorite ice cream shop. September is one of the last chances to enjoy an ice cream cone without it making you freeze. Whether you opt for a classic vanilla cone or you’re like me and need your chocolate chip cookie dough with rainbow sprinkles in a wafer cone, there’s something undeniably nostalgic and cute about ending a date with dessert in hand and appreciating each other’s company.
I’m sad to see summer coming to an end, but I’m so excited for these New York moments that we can create this fall.
