Multigenerations of families flood our beloved island, and while there’s something special about decades of history, there’s also so much beauty in welcoming the new. Meet Roos, a model who’s graced the runways and campaigns of iconic brands and has both beauty and brains. She’s made Palm Beach not only her home but her runway.
Roos, you’re a model known for your work with Victoria’s Secret, Tom Ford, and more. How did you get discovered?
I was actually discovered by a Dutch male model. He was signed with a New York agency at the time and asked if he could take a picture of me and send it to their scout, who was coincidentally also Dutch. I never thought about modeling before, but I was in my last year of high school at the time and after a quick trip with my mom to New York City and meeting the team at the agency, I decided to give it a shot.
What was your first modeling gig?
My first real job was a campaign for Urban Outfitters. I had to travel all the way to Ushuaia, Argentina, which was such a cool destination—the end of the world! I remember feeling a mix of nerves and excitement; it was surreal to be in front of the camera professionally, and I wasn’t really sure what to do. That experience taught me a lot, especially about embracing confidence and just having fun with it!
How did you land with Victoria’s Secret?
I had already been working with the brand for a few years before trying out to walk the show. After several rounds of casting, they had me come back and surprised me telling me on the spot I had booked the show. I remember feeling so grateful. It was a dream come true!
What are some highlights from your Victoria’s Secret days?
The behind-the-scenes moments with the other girls, the adrenaline rush right before stepping out—it’s hard to describe how incredible it felt. Being part of that world was so exciting, and I have the best memories from it.
Why did you decide to move to Palm Beach?
I moved to Florida during the pandemic. I kind of ended up in Palm Beach by accident; our friends invited us to come down. After going back and forth between Miami and Palm Beach, we settled on Palm Beach. I was loving living in a place that was beautiful, inspiring, and allowed for a balanced life after NYC. Palm Beach felt like the perfect mix of sophistication, calmness, and natural beauty—it’s my little paradise.
Who’s in your local circle here?
It’s a wonderful mix! Some of my friends are also in the fashion industry, but most are creatives, entrepreneurs, and locals. Everyone has a unique story, and it’s a supportive community.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about PB life?
People often think it’s just a vacation destination, but Palm Beach has so much more depth. There’s a real sense of community here, a creative side, and a focus on wellness and balance that I don’t think people expect.
Where do you like to eat and shop?
I love going to Amici Market for my morning juice. For dinner, there are so many delicious options. My current favorites are a bar seat at Palm Beach Grill or picking up Pizzaioli. I’m more of an online shopper, but I always find amazing things at The Church Mouse.
How do you celebrate the holidays?
For Christmas, I like to just be with friends and family, eat good food, and take it easy. It’s usually the only time I get to relax. New Year’s is such a good chance to reflect and set intentions. I almost always do a vision board night with friends.
What were they like for you growing up?
We would usually spend it skiing in Switzerland or Austria with family. We’d have cheese fondue and lots of family time in the snow. Those are memories I’ll forever cherish.
What did you enjoy most about your childhood in the Netherlands?
I loved the simplicity of it. I grew up surrounded by nature, and I spent a lot of time biking and being active. I feel fortunate that I had an easy childhood with loving parents. They still live in the house I was born in!
Who are you modeling for these days?
I’m working with a mix of brands from luxury fashion to beauty, but most importantly I love working with brands that prioritize sustainability and align with my personal values.

I’m a big reader! I love getting lost in a good book, whether it’s fiction that transports me to another world or nonfiction that challenges my perspective. Reading has always been a way for me to unwind, learn, and grow.
