You are a prominent figure in media and philanthropy. Tell us a bit about your background.
I started modeling at the age of 14, but education was always a top priority for my parents. They supported my career as long as I stayed committed to my studies. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business while pursuing modeling, traveling back to Moscow twice a year to take my finals. Modeling allowed me to explore the world, living in Milan at 18 and signing with Elite LA at 19, which brought me to Los Angeles.
At 23, I shifted my focus toward fashion design, a passion of mine, and attended FIDM to get a degree in Fashion Design. However, starting a business right after the 2008 market crash, while being a new mom, was challenging. I decided to prioritize my family and became a full-time mom.
I’m someone who can’t sit still. As my family was deeply involved in real estate, I obtained my broker’s license, allowing me to balance a career with motherhood. Later, after experiencing divorce and the challenges of starting over, I felt compelled to share what I learned. This inspired me to write Divorce as an Opportunity.
How did you get into writing?
I’ve always loved writing—whether it was journaling my thoughts, creating scripts, or drafting stories with dreams of one day turning them into movies or books. During my divorce, journaling became a therapeutic outlet. It helped me process my emotions and reflect on my journey. That experience planted the seed for writing a book. I realized I had valuable insights to share with others who might be navigating similar challenges.
We have to talk about your new book, “Divorce As An Opportunity.” What inspired you to write this book?
Going through a divorce is one of the most life-altering experiences. For me, it was also a period of deep self-discovery and transformation. I saw how overwhelming it can be to face the unknown and deal with fears and uncertainties. But instead of letting it break me, I found a way to grow through it.
I wanted to create a resource for others—especially women—to see divorce not as a failure, but as a chance to reclaim their lives. This book is about helping readers prepare for the transition, embrace it, and come out stronger on the other side.
Your book takes an “unconventional” approach to divorce. What is the message you’re looking to send to your readers?
The main message is that divorce is not the end—it’s a new beginning. I believe every challenge presents an opportunity to grow and realign with your true self. Divorce can be a moment of rebirth, allowing you to rediscover who you are, shed what no longer serves you, and build a life you love.
By changing your mindset and viewing divorce as a catalyst for positive change, you can transform fear and uncertainty into empowerment. This book is a guide to help readers see divorce as a stepping stone to becoming the strongest, most authentic version of themselves.
How was writing a book different from your other pursuits?
Writing a book required a deep emotional commitment. Unlike my other creative or professional ventures, this was an intensely personal project. I had to revisit some of the most challenging times in my life to write authentically and connect with my readers. It was also more solitary compared to the collaborative nature of fashion design or real estate. The process taught me patience, vulnerability, and the importance of perseverance.
What was the most rewarding part of this journey? Tell us about it.
The most rewarding part of this journey was the opportunity to turn one of the most challenging periods of my life into something meaningful and impactful. Writing Divorce as an Opportunity allowed me to reflect deeply on my experiences, find healing, and channel my lessons into something that could help others.
Knowing that my words might inspire someone to see their own struggles in a new light and give them hope to rebuild their life is incredibly fulfilling.
Seeing the final product—something I created with the intention of making a difference—was a moment of immense pride and gratitude. It affirmed my belief that even our hardest experiences can lead to something beautiful and meaningful.
