Tell us a bit about your background. What sparked your career in fitness/training?
When I was 17 I got scouted by a model agency, and for the next 5 years, I traveled the world as a fashion model. While modeling, I stayed in great shape and made a name for myself as having one of the top physiques in the industry. During this time, I discovered my love for fitness and wellness. At Eian Scully Fitness, I help take clients’ physiques and wellness to the next level with specialized training I have honed over the last 20 years.
What approach do you take to help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
Fitness means different things to different people. To me, it’s about understanding my clients’ goals, how their body moves, and their current condition. From there, we create a training game plan and work hard until we get to the goal! Consistency and intensity are as important as the training program. I focus on creating a fun environment, using the right intensity and exercises that leave my clients feeling energized and ready to take on whatever life throws their way.
How do you prioritize your own fitness goals while working with multiple clients?
I train an average of 10 clients per day across various gyms, biking to all of them year-round. My days are quite long and grueling. That being said, I always prioritize my own training as I do with my clients!
Most of my clients are high-performing individuals in New York, with very hectic schedules, so I train myself just as I train them. I get in 3 main strength training sessions per week hitting all the main body parts. The remainder of my workouts consist of athletic conditioning workouts and yoga.
You’ve trained many celebrities and public figures. Who are some of your favorite people you’ve worked with?
I have been very fortunate in my career to train a lot of really amazing people from all different industries. I think one of my favorite parts of my job is conversing with people from all different nationalities and careers.
Some of the celebrity and public figure clients I have worked with include Jason Kanner, Brian Atwood, Jake Deutsch, Jason Wu, Simon Huck, David Lauren, and Trey Lair.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get a fitness trainer for the first time?
Always go based on word of mouth first. If you have any friends or family that have a trainer they work with, that’s a great place to start. I don’t believe in absolutes, so I would stay away from any trainer who does not use various methods of training. In all my sessions I incorporate strength, training, conditioning, flexibility, and core work.
What is your #1 tip for maintaining wellness during the colder months?
Book several beach trips throughout the winter! First and foremost, it gives you something to look forward to and a reason to maintain your fitness. Being on the beach will also boost your vitamin D levels, which are depleted during the winter months.
What’s your favorite way to spice up a healthy meal?
It just so happens that I am a hot sauce aficionado! Since starting my fitness and wellness journey, I have developed a need for clean, well-balanced nutrition. Unfortunately, I’ve found that most healthy meals lack flavor and that’s where I discovered hot sauce!
I recently launched a hot sauce brand of my own called HotBoy Hot Sauce! Our first flavor, the Classic Hottie, is a delicious blend of smoked jalapeños with a tease of real maple syrup. Its unique flavor will spice up any meal, as it does with most of mine.
