If you’re summering in the Hamptons, you likely have a full social calendar. We’ve found some of the best gifts that will give the hosts in your life a reason to invite you back!

Summer in the Hamptons means pool parties, cocktail hours, weekend getaways, and dinner celebrations. As soon as I get an invitation to one of these intimate social gatherings, I immediately start thinking of what I’m going to bring for the host. Everyone knows it’s a cardinal sin to show up empty-handed. I always have the best intentions of arriving with a creative gift but, more often than not, I end up with the usual bottle of wine.
Having learned from my mistakes over the years, and having been gifted some fabulous gifts by friends more organized than me, I’ve gathered a thoughtful list of some of my favorite creative go-to gifts. Although some of them require a bit more thought and time management, they’re sure to make a lasting impression and help secure your spot on the guest list.
Personalized Library
One of the most thoughtful gifts I’ve ever received was a beautiful basket of my friend’s favorite books along with a personalized bookmark. I was so touched that she took the time to curate a mini library of books she’s read, has loved, and felt compelled to share with me.
A Charitable Donation
Giving back to someone’s favorite charity is a great option for the person who has everything. As a member of the Central Park Conservancy, one of my favorites is donating to the Tulips & Daffodils program. For a minimum of $50, the Conservancy will plant flowers in the park and send the recipient a customized certificate as a notification of this special gift made in their name.
Fruit of the Season
The South is known for its unparalleled hospitality, so it only makes sense to send your host a delicious delivery of Georgia peaches. If peaches aren’t your thing, Harry’s Berries from California, Maui Gold Pineapple, and Honeybell Oranges from Florida all ship domestically and make delicious gifts.
Unique Provisions
My go-to is L’Epicuriste on Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton. Known for its culinary discoveries and assorted indulgences, they offer the most beautiful curation of items, ranging from gourmet vinegar flights and rare truffles to one-of-a-kind embroidered cocktail napkins and hand-carved cheese boards.
Flamingo Estate Everything
From its home and beauty products to their pantry items, cookbooks, swag, and everything in between, Flamingo Estate is highly giftable and covetable. A few of my favorites are its Roma Heirloom Tomato candle paired with its homemade Soap Brick, its olive oil and vinegar sets, and its California Native Mountain Wildflower Honey.
Bourbon Is Back
A bottle of wine is lovely, but a distinctly flavored specialty bourbon will get you invited back. Fueled by the popularity of cocktail culture, bourbon has been experiencing a steady boom for years. It’s a great gift for anyone who appreciates a classic bourbon cocktail, like an old-fashioned or for the purists who simply like it neat.
For the Game Lovers
Between summertime traveling and long lazy days at home, we spend a lot more time playing games as a family. Recently, we’ve turned to classic card games that are reliably fun and easy to travel with. Smythson’s Panama Leather Playing Cards Set in the brand’s traditional hard-wearing crossgrain calf leather is a chic gift for any host looking for an easy way to entertain their guests after dinner or throughout the weekend. Another go-to favorite is a beautiful wooden puzzle by Liberty Puzzles.
Specialty Kitchen and Homeware
Designer Max Poglia makes the most ruggedly handsome handmade knives, bar tools, and other home décor items that will undoubtedly make your host’s jaw drop. The Siena Set is one of my favorites, with its ultra-thin blades crafted from reclaimed carbon steel and hearty handles made of horn and bone.
A Touch of Tiffany
Need I say more? Tiffany’s Elsa Peretti napkin rings are simple, timeless, and one of my favorite gifts of all time. They come in a set of two, which feels elevated enough without being too extravagant. Your host can use these to start a collection or mix and match them with their other napkin rings.
Anything AERIN
With both Palm Beach and Southampton locations, AERIN is a one-stop shop for finding the perfect gift for any host. I love the oversize Tulia Wicker candles. If you’re going to gift a candle, this is the way to do it. Another idea is filling one of its wicker baskets with a beautiful bouquet of hand-picked flowers. Otherwise, blooms from your local farm stand will do. Personalize it. I’m a sucker for personalization.
Spending time with loved ones is what life is all about. It’s a pleasure to entertain friends and family, albeit challenging at times, which is why a token of appreciation can go a long way. At the end of the day, it’s not about the gift, it’s about the gesture and the thought behind it.
