Renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Rowe began his practice in New York City and has since expanded to the Hamptons and New Jersey. Before starting Rowe Plastic Surgery, Dr. Rowe trained with the New York University Medical Center and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Institute.
Spotlight sat down with Dr. Rowe to hear all about why he decided to become a surgeon, the best procedures to do during the summer, and more!
You are a renowned plastic surgeon. How did you get your start in this field?
I’ve always wanted to be, not only a doctor or surgeon, but a plastic surgeon. As a child, I remember reading about doctors who could “rebuild” missing or broken body parts. I thought it was amazing and wanted to do just that. That was the nidus of my desire to become a plastic surgeon—someone who makes others whole again.
You trained with the New York University Medical Center and the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Institute. Why did you decide to start your own practice?
I value the freedom to pursue what I want to do without the constraints of institutional regulations. While I cherish my time and the teachers who instructed me at NYU and MEETH, and still keep in touch with them to this day, I enjoy “being my own boss.”
Your practice began in Manhattan and has since expanded to Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, New Jersey, and East Hampton. What has been the most rewarding part about opening these locations?
One of the best feelings a plastic surgeon can experience is a patient’s smile, and sometimes a happy tear, after the bandages come off. I enjoy bringing that feeling to as many people as I possibly can. In order to do that, sometimes instead of the patient coming to me in New York City, I go to them through the opening of a new location and a new feeling of happiness.
You spend your summers in East Hampton. How do you service this clientele differently than your other locations?
A patient is a patient regardless of location. A patient’s desire to look and feel their best is universal and transcends geography.
What experience can customers expect when they make an appointment at Rowe Plastic Surgery?
I aim to make every individual feel like they are part of my family. I strive to show my warmth and sincerity when I meet anyone, patient or not. I always ensure that they feel comfortable and always give my honest opinion about their wishes. My staff is an extension of me, reflecting my values and helping foster the feeling that we are all old friends.
What are some of the best procedures to do during the summertime?
During the summer, procedures with minimal downtime are key. This includes injectables such as botox and filler to the face or lips, laser hair removal, laser fat reduction, muscle toning, and cellulite reduction.
Are there any new surgical/non-surgical offerings coming this summer? If so, tell us about it.
I believe treatments that help boost confidence in summer attire and bathing suits are in high demand. Namely, cellulite reduction treatment, which involves a needle stick with little downtime, is very successful.
