Physic Medium Travis Holp—aka Warrior Unicorn—has been impacting the lives of others with his live reading events and one-on-one sessions.
Spotlight sat down with Holp to hear all about how he realized he was able to connect with spirits, how he prepares for readings, and what’s next for him.
When did you first realize you were able to connect with spirits?
When I was young, I thought I just had a very vivid imagination. I had a lot of imaginary friends, and at the time I thought a lot of other kids had imaginary friends they could see and talk to. Sometimes these imaginary friends were family members that had passed.
It wasn’t until I was in my mid to late twenties that I started piecing together that I was having connections with the spirit world.
What made you decide to conduct readings on others?
I kept this ability to myself for a long time. I would go get readings and the physics would always tell me “Oh my gosh, you connect to the spirit world.” I eventually got Tarot cards and started giving my friends readings. After working in the beauty industry for 17 years, I decided to take my abilities public on TikTok in November of 2020.
What are the steps you take to prepare before doing a reading on someone?
I like to spend time meditating before every client so that I clear any energy from my day before doing the reading. I love listening to Stevie Knicks before I give readings—it raises my vibrations.
How do you make your clients feel comfortable during their reading?
It’s important that people feel safe with me because it’s possible that intimate things will come up during the reading. I come from 17 years in the beauty industry, so I always treat my clients like I would if I were doing their makeup. I really try to de-mistify the process before starting the reading by explaining what is going to happen.
You have blown up on social media and are known as the “Warrior Unicorn.” How did you get this nickname?
Warrior Unicorn comes from a blend of things. Someone gifted me a unicorn tank top and I only wore it one time before everyone started sending me unicorns because it reminded them of me. I’ve always been drawn to mythical creatures. The warrior piece comes from the song “The Warrior” by Scandal.
I just decided to make Warrior Unicorn my Instagram name, and it just stuck.
When you first started reading others, did you anticipate gaining as much of a following as you have now? What is your reaction to this?
The universe has always guided me with one thing at a time. My friends always ask if I saw this coming and I have to laugh, because I did. I’ve always known that my purpose was to help others.
You have also begun doing live reading events. Tell us about this!
I love doing live events! I am able to channel specific loved ones for people in the crowd. It allows me to bring my mediumship gift to a wider audience. There is so much love and wonderful energy that flows through the room during these events.
How do you plan on further sharing your gift with the world this year?
I would love to do more live events and possibly work on a book. However, I fully trust the universe. I take life one reading at a time and just enjoy watching it unfold.
