On September 24th, 2024, Fashion 4 Development hosted the 12th Annual First Ladies Luncheon on Park Avenue in New York City.
The luncheon took place during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Founder of Fashion 4 Development, Evie Evangelou, kicked off the event alongside Chinese-American television host and producer Yue-Sai Kan.
Yue-Sai Kan was also this year’s F4D 2024 Visionary Award recipient, which she was presented with at the luncheon.
The afternoon began with a cocktail reception and green carpet for guests to take photos before heading into the lunch.
First ladies including the First Lady of Albania, First Lady of Angola, First Lady of Bahamas, First Lady of Bosnia, First Lady of Bulgaria, First Lady of Colombia, First Lady of Guyana, First Lady of Vietnam, First Lady of Kosovo, First Lady of Fiji, and First Lady of Malta attended the luncheon alongside VIP’s, philanthropists, and fashion industry icons.
The luncheon’s vegetarian menu was designed by Chinese Chef and culinary artist Chef Guo. While guests enjoyed the three-course menu, awards were presented and three fashion brands took to the runway.
Sandriver Cashmere, Global Runway by Mirela Nurce, and Wang Feng Couture all presented recent designs during the luncheon, adding to the fashion-forward flair of the afternoon.
F4D honored six individuals for their commitment to sustainable fashion and creating a healthier planet. The award recipients included the founder of Sandriver Cashmere Juliet Guo, Emmy and Academy award-winning film producer Eva Orner, CEO and founder of The Green Vision Amy Green, FEED’s Lauren Bush Lauren and Sharon Bush, and Chief Culture Officer of The Bicester Collection Chantal Khoueiry.
Following the awards ceremony and fashion presentations, Evie Evangelou sent guests home with F4D’s official fragrance, The Harmonist, in collaboration with South African fashion designer Thebe Magugu, which is also sold at Bergdorf Goodman.
This event celebrated fashion, culture, and, sustainability, showcasing how the three can be harmonious.
